Ingredients
For Pizza Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For Pizza Toppings:
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- Chimichurri sauce (to taste)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tomato, thinly sliced
Instructions
For Pizza Dough:
- Activate the Yeast: Stir active dry yeast in 1 cup of warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it gets frothy.
- Combine Ingredients: In a bowl mix flour, sugar, and salt. Pour the olive oil and yeast into your dry ingredients. Stir until the dough starts coming together in a shaggy mess.
- Knead the Dough: On a dusted surface, knead the dough for 8-10 minutes. You want a smooth, elastic texture.
- Let it Rise: Put the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a wet cloth. Let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour or until it’s doubled in size.
For Pizza Assembling:
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 450F and let it heat up for 20-30 minutes.
- Shape the Dough: After the dough has increased in size, deflate it and flatten it on a dusted surface to fit the size of your pizza pan.
- Layer your Pizza: Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the dough. Sprinkle cheese over the sauce. Top with thinly tomato slices.
- Bake to Perfection: Slide the pizza into the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Add Chimichurri and Serve: Spread chimichurri sauce on top, slice it up with a pizza cutter, and dig in!
Notes
- Don’t overtop the pizza too much because sauce or cheese will make the crust soggy.
- If you like your pizza with a little extra crust, reheat each slice before serving.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes to make it elastic and smooth.
- To activate the yeast properly use lukewarm water.
- Add other toppings to your taste or preference.
