Description
Do you want to eat chipotle steak but in a homemade version? Then I am here with a Chipotle steak recipe that will cost you less than real Chipotle. Even though Chipotle is everyone’s dream restaurant, its high prices often lead you to decline your orders. As a culinary expert, I always try different recipes, and Chipotle’s menu is always on my favorite list. This steak I made today is close to authentic chipotle steak, but it’s a homemade version.
I am sharing this recipe with you so that you can make it yourself the next time you crave chipotle steak.
Ingredients
For Steak
- 1 ribeye steak
- ½ tablespoon cumin powder
- ½ tablespoon black pepper
- ½ tablespoon garlic powder
- ½ tablespoon tomato bouillon
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
How to prepare the side dishes for the Chipotle Steak Bowl
- Fresh salsa: Dice a small fresh tomato, half a red onion, and chopped cilantro. Combine them all and season with salt, black pepper, and lime juice. This fresh salsa is simple. I like my fresh salsa to be very simple because it tastes incredible.
- Black beans: I boiled the black beans and served them in my favorite chipotle steak bowl.
- Steamed rice: I have used steamed rice with some basic seasonings.
- Shredded lettuce: Lettuce tastes best with steak. I love to have my chipotle steak bowl with shredded lettuce.
- Guacamole: Mash 2 peeled avocados, seasoning with salt, black pepper, and lime juice.
- Corn Salsa: I have not captured the preparation of my corn salsa. If you want to look into this recipe, here is the complete chipotle corn salsa recipe.
How to make the Chipotle steak
- Take a ribeye steak, wash it thoroughly, and pat it dry. Mix all the seasonings, including cumin powder, black pepper, garlic powder, tomato bouillon, and salt.
- Season the steak with two tablespoons of olive oil and coat it well so that all the seasoning adheres to it well. Now add the seasoning and coat the ribeye steak with it. Marinate the seasoned steak for about 15-20 minutes.
- Add two tbsp olive oil to the grill pan. Sear the chipotle steak on the grill pan for 4-5 minutes on each side. Once the steak is browned on one side, flip it to the other side. Flip it to the other side until all the excess oil is removed. I like my medium-cooked steak, but if you want it fully done, cook it for a long time until it is fully cooked.
- Once the steak is done, rest for 10-15 minutes before cutting into it. Cut the steak into cubes or slices. Serve and enjoy your chipotle steak with the other side of the chipotle dishes.
Notes
- The quality of steak matters. Use high-quality ribeye steak that is marbled in intramuscular fat red meat.
- If you are not in a hurry, increase the time for marination to 30 minutes. The longer you marinate the steak, the better it will absorb flavors.
- Preheat your grill pan for searing the steak. This will help the steak to sear better and quickly.
- Avoid moving the steak too much; place it in one place and let it cook on one side before flipping it to the other. Also, sear the sides of the beef steak.
- If you want your steak to be fully done, sear it for more time on each side.
- Rest the steak for 5-10 minutes. This allows the flavors to adjust and makes it juicier and tender.
