Description
Popsicles are ice cream on a stick, also called ice lolly, lolly, or lollipop. They remind us to appreciate the little things in life, bringing us back to childhood when we bought them from local ice cream trucks. Popsicles make people happy, whether it’s from the first bite on a hot summer day or the joy of sharing one with loved ones. The chocolate variety is the best in terms of flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
For chocolate popsicles:
- 100 ml fresh whole milk
- 50 g 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 20 g 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 50 g 1/3 cup dark chocolate
- 200 ml heavy cream
For the Chocolate Shell Coating (optional):
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Chocolate Base: Put the caster sugar, dark chocolate, and cocoa powder in a saucepan. Add the whole milk and whisk everything thoroughly. Stir continuously and cook the mixture over low heat until the chocolate melts and the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Remove it from the stove and let it come to room temperature.
- Whip the Heavy Cream: Use a hand or stand mixer to whip the heavy cream in a separate bowl. The cream will thicken, and bubbles will start appearing as you beat. After the cream becomes thick and keeps its shape, add the prepared chocolate mixture. Mix them with a whisk until a creamy, smooth consistency is achieved.
- Fill the Popsicle Molds: Pour the chocolate-cream mixture into each popsicle mold, leaving a small amount of space at the top. Fill each mold with a popsicle stick.
- Freeze the Popsicles: Cover the molds with their lids or wrap them in aluminum foil. Place the mold in the freezer and freeze overnight to achieve the best results. If you’re in a hurry, freeze them for at least 4-5 hours until they solidify.
- Unmold and Enjoy: To remove the popsicles from the molds, soak the bottoms in room-temperature water for 1-2 minutes. Then, very gently remove each popsicle. Serve and enjoy your creamy homemade chocolate popsicles!
- Create the Chocolate Shell Coating (optional): Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil in a saucepan. Cool the chocolate mixture to room temperature. Dip each popsicle into the chocolate mixture until thoroughly coated. Allow the chocolate shell to firm.
Notes
- Be creative! You can try a variety of coatings, such as a chopped nut sprinkle or a crunchy chocolate shell. You may use coconut milk for a similarly delicious variation if you’re not consuming dairy products. These popsicles adjust to your dietary choices and cravings.
