Description
Mango dragon fruit smoothie is a refreshing tropical blend of frozen dragon fruit, mango, and plant-based milk that helps the body endure hot weather. I like to add strawberries for a delicious twist. The best thing is that you can make it with endless variations!
I have spent one and a half years in West Palm Beach, Florida. One thing that I often make during hot weather is the Dragon fruit smoothies. Dragon fruits are ample in the local markets, and I have grown them in my garden. Usually, I have to wait for my baby dragon fruit to grow so I can make smoothies out of it, but I also buy some frozen dragon fruits from the market to make the heat tolerable with icy cold smoothies. My niece, who was around 13 years old at that time, visited her grandparents in Florida. She asks for dragon fruit and mango slush (She calls it that) every time she visits me during her 2 month stay at her grandparents’ home. Honestly, it is so creamy and healthy when we combine mangoes with dragon fruit, strawberries, and coconut milk. You can find dragon fruits in markets. Look for pitaya if you can’t find dragon fruit because it is the other name for dragon fruit.
Ingredients
- 1/2 of Mango
- 1 Dragon Fruit, frozen pieces
- 2 Cups Coconut Milk
- ½ Cup Frozen Strawberries
- 1 Tsp Honey (optional)
Instructions
-
Layer the Ingredients in a Blender: Toss all the ingredients in a blender. Most recipes say to blend all the ingredients without any specification. The layering is done by adding coconut milk, followed by honey, mango, dragon fruit, and strawberries. The liquid at the base of the blender helps in the smooth blending of the ingredients.
-
Blend: Blend them all until well combined and no lumps remain for 40-50 seconds. Start by blending at a low speed for 10 seconds, then increase the speed and blend for 40 seconds.
- Serve: Pour the smoothie into a beautiful glass, add your favorite topping, insert a straw, and slurp this delicious drink.
Notes
- Frozen fruits are recommended because they will create a smooth, thick, silky, and velvety smoothie. If you are using fresh ones, add some ice to achieve that smoothie consistency. Try using at least one frozen fruit for a smoothie feel.
- Take pieces of the pitaya and slices of mango for a smooth blend.
- The time for blending the ingredients can be different depending on the power of the blender. Blending the smoothie for 50 seconds will be enough. Remember to mix the ingredients at low speed for 10 seconds and then increase the speed for 40 seconds.
- If your smoothie is too thin or too thick, adjust the consistency according to your preference by adding coconut milk, ice cubes, or fruits. Add some frozen strawberries or pitaya if you have a runny consistency. If you have a too-thick smoothie, add a little bit of coconut milk to create balance.
- Try avoiding too many sweeteners. I am adding a tsp of honey for extra flavors. Adding too much sweetener will fade the natural sour and sweet taste of fruits.
