Description
Hawaiian BBQ sauce is a sweet, tangy, spicy, and savory sauce for marinating chicken, meat for BBQ, and glazed meat in the huli huli style. This dark brownish red sauce makes the famous Hawaiian huli huli chicken.
The favorite Hawaiian sauce may have pineapple pulp, slices, or juice. The tangy family of condiments like ketchup, spicy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce balances the sweet flavor of light brown sugar. It is also called “Huli Huli Sauce.”
Ingredients
- 1 cup pineapple, chopped
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp of soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper powder
- 1 tsp ground ginger
Instructions
- Blend the Sauce: Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend for 3 minutes at medium speed until the pineapple and other ingredients form a silky-smooth paste without lumps.
- Cook the Sauce: Grab a saucepan and put the blended sauce in it. Warm it up on medium-low heat and bring it to a simmer for 3-4 minutes. Cool it to room temperature, and the sauce is ready to serve.
- Try it in BBQ, Meat, and Steaks: Season your chicken, steak, BBQ, Meat chops, and ribs, and enjoy the homemade huli huli sauce on your favorite savory dishes. Put the remaining sauce in an airtight bottle and refrigerate for 3 weeks.
