Description
Hazelnut oatmilk shaken espresso is a nutty Starbucks beverage included in their menu every new year. It mainly uses shaken blond espresso with hazelnut syrup combined with ice and topped with oat milk. Absolute yum!
I was so overwhelmed with the taste that I thought of making the oat milk shaken espresso at home. The nutty flavor profile dominating in shaken espresso and plant-based oat milk is like the taste from heaven. I am 100% sure it turned out more amazing than any hot hazelnut. Trust me, it saves tons of money and keeps me from going to Starbucks each time I crave it.
Ingredients
For OATMILK SHAKEN ESPRESSO
- 2 shots espresso
- 2 tablespoons hazelnut syrup
- 6-ounce Oat Milk
- 1 cup of ice
For Homemade Hazelnut Syrup
- 1 cup (125g) hazelnut (Filberts)
- 1 cup (250g) sugar
- 1 cup (250ml) water
Instructions
How To Make Hazelnut Syrup
- Roast Raw Hazelnuts: Spread the raw hazelnuts (Filberts) on a baking tray. Bake for 15 minutes at 180°C.
- Remove Hazelnut Skin: Place the roasted hazelnuts on a tea towel and rub them against the surface to partially remove their thin, paper-like brown skin.
- Chop The Hazelnuts: When the skin is removed transfer it on a clean board and chop them roughly.
- Make The Syrup: Cook the sugar and water in a clean saucepan for about 4-5 minutes on medium heat. Once the sugar is dissolved and bubbles start to form, add the chopped hazelnuts and turn the heat to low. Cook for about 20-25 minutes. Strain it into the pan and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
- Store: Cool and store the syrup in an airtight bottle. Use it in your favorite drinks. If it is properly stored, it can last for about 2-3 months in the refrigerator.

Notes
Use leftover hazelnuts for various dishes. They can be topped on toast, desserts, and spreads. You can make hazelnut butter by blending softened sweet hazelnuts and a teaspoon of vanilla in a food processor until smooth. Spread it on toast along with berries and your favorite fruits for a perfect breakfast.
