Description
Lime salt is a citrus granular blend of coarse salt (kosher or sea salt) and lime zest.
I was at my friend Zuri’s birthday party and noticed that the glass of garden tea punch was rimmed with exciting salt. On query, she said that she bought this lime-flavored salt online. I said to myself, “Emily, you are gonna crack this!” I have made the spice salt, so I know the basics. After two attempts, I made perfect citrus-flavored salt with lime, and it turned out amazing.
Do you also love citrus but never thought of lime with salt? Then, adore your favorite food with fun and excitement. You will absolutely love this salt on margarita, cocktails, meat, popcorn, Rim glasses, tacos, guacamole, and many more! I love it because it adds a pop of citrus to any dish. I often season my favorite dishes with this salt when I want a bold citrus profile.
Ingredients
- 1 cup coarse salt
- 2 tbsp lime zest
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Grate lime zest with zester and mix it with coarse salt until well combined.
- Dry the Citrus Salt: The lime salt mixture is moist, so dry it by baking it. Preheat the oven to 200F to dry the lime salt. Spread (make an even layer for thorough baking) the lime salt on an 18” x 26” baking tray (of course lined with parchment paper) and bake it for 40 minutes.
- Store in Pantry: Allow the salt to cool completely before consuming it in your favorite dishes. Put the lime-flavored salt in a jar and store it in your pantry. Enjoy it on rim flavored drinks, popcorns, and meat seasoning.
Notes
- Store the dry citrus salt in a jar, place it at room temperature on the kitchen shelf or pantry, and use it for a month. You can also freeze the salt by securing it in an airtight vessel or freezer bag for up to 6 months. Thaw the salt to room temperature before use.
