Description
Is it me or are mug cakes the new thing this week? After spending the first four weeks at home, I baked so many cakes but Cinnamon roll mug cake is my favorite because all I wanted to eat was lazy snacks like Oreo mug cake. After 3 attempts, I finally did it! You need this cinnamon roll mug in your life! In only five minutes, you can make these fluffy and delicious cinnamon rolls that rival any store-bought variety!
Ingredients
Scale
For the mug cake batter:
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour (32g)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 3 tablespoons milk (40ml)
- ¼ tsp of vanilla extract
- 1 ½ tablespoons vegetable oil
For Brown Sugar Mixture:
- 1 tsp melted salted butter
- 2 ½ tablespoons dark brown sugar
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
For Sugar Glaze:
- 2 tsp powdered sugar (8g)
- 1/4 tsp milk
Instructions
- Add all-purpose flour, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl and mix them. In the same bowl add milk, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil and whisk them together until form a smooth batter.
- Melt the salted butter and stir in the dark brown sugar and ground cinnamon to produce a thick, dark brown mixture.
- Prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar with milk and mixing them until a smooth consistency is attained.
- Now it’s time to assemble the mug cake. First, take the mug and pour half the batter that is prepared in the mug, then add half of the brown sugar mixture, and then add the rest of the batter. Add the rest of the brown sugar mixture and swirl it around with a skewer. We create a spiral so that the cinnamon gets to the dough.
- Microwave it for about 1 minute and 10 seconds in the microwave on the highest, that’s how long it took for me but every microwave is different so it may take longer or a bit less time for you. Keep a good eye on it and if it’s not done, microwave for an additional 10 seconds.
- After that let it cool for a minute and drizzle the glaze on the top of this cinnamon mug cake and enjoy this soft and spongy mug cake!
Notes
- Don’t overmix the ingredients because overmixing can make the cake harder, not spongy.
- For more smooth batter, sift the dry ingredients before mixing.
- To attain a moist and soft texture add the milk slowly. Add milk gradually rather than all at once.
- Make an attractive swirl design in the mug by arranging the batter and brown sugar mixture in layers. Gently stir the cinnamon layer into the batter with a skewer or knife tip. This ensures that the flavor of cinnamon is distributed evenly throughout the cake.
- Different microwaves have different powers, that’s why they have different cooking times so be sure to monitor your cake while it cooks closely. Begin with the suggested duration of one minute and ten seconds, then modify as necessary. To get a cake with a gooey center, under-cook it a bit.
- Add your favorite toppings for more flavors if you are skipping the glaze option then dust with cinnamon powder for a warm finish.
