Description
Who doesn’t want a cup of Oreo hot chocolate on a cold day? Combine Oreo biscuits, chocolate chips, milk, and heavy cream to make your winter nights special.
I have always been looking for a hot chocolate recipe with real ingredients, not powdered products. Oreo biscuits add a significant flavor while chocolate chips melt and give the hot chocolate a rich luxury taste. I like to add heavy cream to make it extra silky, creamy, and indulgent. I really want you to treat me with something creamy, chocolate, and a warm cup, and I think what is better than a cup of hot chocolate with Oreo. The flavor can be enhanced with whipped cream, melted chocolate, and Oreo toppings to make it more appetizing.
Ingredients
- 10 Oreo biscuits
- ¼ cup (50g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups of milk (500ml)
- 1 cup hot milk
- ¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream (optional)
For topping (optional):
- Whipped cream
- Melted chocolate
Instructions
- Crush the Oreos: Put the Oreos in a Ziplock bag and seal it. Crush them into fine powder using a rolling pin or a chopper. Bring these Oreos to the point that they form a fine powder, and no large chunks remain. I use the plastic bag method; you can simply use the grinder.
- Cook in a Saucepan: Add the crushed Oreos, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and whole milk to a medium saucepan. Optionally, add the heavy cream and cook on high heat while stirring continuously with a spatula. Bring the Oreo milk to boil for 5 minutes. The mixture thickens as you keep stirring. Once the mixture is thick and bubbling starts, it is ready.
- Strain the Hot Chocolate: Strain the mixture to form smooth hot chocolate. Add 1 cup hot milk to the smooth hot chocolate mixture and mix.
- Serve in the Large Cups: It will make 3 large cups of Oreo hot chocolate. Serve with your most delicious toppings like whipped cream or drizzle with chocolate.
Notes
- The Oreos should be crushed in fine powder for a smooth and velvety texture.
- Strain the hot chocolate for a chocolaty and silky texture that will slip into your mouth. Most importantly, it will give the real hot chocolate feel with no large lumps that feel unpleasant.
