Bake cake? Bake bread? This time, I made a baked salmon sushi recipe instead. You can make such a beautiful and delicious dish with a few ingredients, perfect for family dinners, business events, and potlucks. They are simple to prepare and can be adjusted with your preferred vegetables or toppings.
While on vacation in Japan, I tried many recipes, but baked salmon sushi became one of my favorites. It will melt in your mouth; they’re wonderfully creamy and have just a touch of spice. So, I decided to make this baked salmon sushi.
Ingredients
- 1 Salmon
- Pepper
- Garlic Powder
- Paprika
- Oil
- 8 oz Imitation Crab
- 1/2 Cup Green onions
- 2 oz Cream Cheese
- 1/4 Cup Kewpie Mayo
- 1 Tbsp Sriracha
- Furikake Seasoning
- Spicy Mayo
For sushi rice
- 1 cup sushi rice cooked
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
For Toppings
- Sriracha
- Spicy Mayo
- Green Onions
- Dried Seaweed
- Sliced Avocado
Instructions
- Cook the Sushi Rice: Wash one cup of sushi rice until the water runs through it comes out clean. Drain the water and place the sushi rice in a rice cooker. Add one and a quarter cups of water. Cover the rice cooker and cook the sushi rice.
- Prepare the Sushi Rice: Make the sushi vinegar. Sushi vinegar is prepared by mixing a quarter cup of rice vinegar, one tablespoon of sugar, and one-fourth teaspoon of salt. Add the cooked sushi rice to a large bowl. Drizzle the sushi vinegar over the cooked rice and mix well.
- Prepare the Salmon. Coat the salmon with olive oil. Season the salmon with black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Ensure that the salmon is seasoned on all sides. After coating, place the salmon on a baking sheet, move the tray straight to the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and then bake it for 10-15 minutes. After baking the salmon, put it in a bowl and shred it with a knife. After the salmon, shred the imitation crab, chop it into small pieces, and set aside.
- Combine Salmon and Crab. Next, add salmon and imitation crab, 2 oz of cream cheese, a quarter cup of kewpie mayonnaise, one tablespoon of sriracha, and half a cup of green onions. Mix until well combined.
- Assemble and Bake. In a baking dish, add the short-grain sushi rice we prepared before. Spread the rice and flatten it, then add furikake seasoning. Add the crab and salmon mixture. Make sure to spread it evenly on the sushi rice. Bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
- Toppings. We can add toppings once the baked salmon sushi has finished cooking in the oven. First, add a drizzle of sriracha. Next, add a drizzle of spicy mayonnaise. Then add some green onions. Now add a sprinkle of black sesame seeds and furikake seasonings. Finally, add some slices of avocado. And our baked salmon sushi is ready. The salmon sushi baked is exceptionally delicious.
- Serve. Serve this with roasted nori sheets. When eating this, take a scoop of baked salmon sushi and place it on a piece of dried seaweed to make it taste better. Enjoy!
Notes
- For baked salmon sushi, always use skinless and boneless salmon.
- Use fresh quality salmon fish.
- You can mix sriracha with kewpie mayonnaise if you don’t have spicy mayonnaise.
- Always check your salmon sushi at the time of baking to avoid overcooking.
- Serve baked salmon sushi warm to enjoy its extreme flavor.
