Description
Texas Best Smokehouse Portobello Mushroom sauce is thick, creamy, and delicious with notes of earthy flavors. Portobello mushrooms, garlic, cream of mushroom, garlicky flavor, and seasoning can take any basic dish to the next level!
Since I love bold dishes with a unique taste, I admire the umami-rich portobello mushroom. I love the taste of Texas’s best smokehouse, and one day, I was like, “Why not make the iconic Texas portobello mushroom at home?” I use simple ingredients and a few steps, which turns out amazing. I serve the sauce with pasta and steak.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp (28g) butter
- 1 (2-3 large mushrooms) cup chopped portobello mushrooms
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1 can (10.5 Fl oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Cook the Mushrooms: Melt unsalted butter on medium-low heat. Toss portobello mushrooms with minced garlic. Sauté the chopped mushrooms in butter until they are soft and tender and change color to brown.
- Make Sauce: Add cream of mushroom soup, water, salt, black pepper(grounded), garlic powder, and onion powder to the sautéed mushrooms. Mix and cook the sauce for 4-5 minutes or until you achieve your desired consistency.
- Serve: Serve with lots of cheese over the steak and burgers, and enjoy your favorite meals.
Notes
- One thing you should consider while making the sauce is deglazing. When the mushrooms start browning, we add water or any liquid like vinegar that helps deglazing flavors and colors adhere to the pan while sautéing them.
- Reducing a sauce is a necessary principle of making sauces. Sauce consistency is important. An ideal sauce is thick and light, creating contrasts. So, make the sauce while keeping this principle in mind. Add more water if the sauce is too thick or dense. Reduce the water by cooking the sauce if it is too runny.
- Sauces create a fine dining experience by adding colors and flavors to the dinner plates. The purpose of sauces is to fill dishes and join dish elements, making them a whole.
- I want to share how I enjoy this sauce. Try it in a burger dripping with creamy mushroom sauce, filled with a juicy meat patty, caramelized onions, and cheese.
- This sauce is delicious with steaks (beef or chicken), pasta, burgers, and veggies. For a fine experience, serve it with roasted broccoli, asparagus, and your favorite veggies. How can I not mention how delicious this sauce is, along with mashed potatoes and smoked chicken breast?
