Description

How long has it been since you ate warm comfort food? If you want to taste something warm with great taste, then the salmon stew recipe is your comfort food. A recipe that wraps seasoned fried salmon with tender veggies and seasonings. My mom made this stew for me when I was a kid. As I grew up, I liked salmon very much, so I also started to make this recipe sometimes as a comfort food. My family’s all-time favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7 salmon fillets washed and cleaned
  • ½ cup red (green, and orange sweet pepper)
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • ½ cup onion sliced
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 thyme sprig

For seasoning

  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp all-purpose seasoning
  • 1 tsp Badia seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For sauce preparation

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon dark soya

Instructions

  1. Take salmon fillets in a bowl and add olive oil, and half of the mentioned seasoning like onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, all-purpose seasoning, and Badia seasoning. Coat all the seasoning properly on the salmon fillets and marinate it for 15 minutes.
  2. Add olive oil to a skillet. And fry all your salmon fillets for 5 minutes on both sides. Set aside the prepared salmon. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic to the same skillet and cook it for about 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, add the diced tomato and sweet bell pepper. Cook this for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add your remaining seasoning, dark soya, and ketchup in warm water and add to the skillet. Add honey to the skillet. Cook it for a minute or until the mixture starts to boil.
  4. Place the fried salmon in the skillet. Pour the liquid down over the fried salmon. Add lemon juice.
  5. Topped with some sweet pepper, onion, and thyme sprigs. Cook the entire stew for 2 more minutes and the salmon stew recipe is ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Choose the right quality salmon. I prefer wild-caught Salmon to farmed salmon. Although both are good sources of nutrients, wild salmon is much preferable. Wild salmon have more nutrients than farmed salmon.
  • The longer you marinate the salmon, the better it will taste. Marinate the salmon for 30 minutes if you want the flavors to be completely absorbed.
  • Adjust the sweetness as per choice. If you don’t like the sweetness of honey, then reduce the amount of honey and ketchup. I am using honey because I like its sweetness balanced with salmon very well.
  • Choose your favorite herb for better seasoning. Seasoned with parsley, Dill, thyme, or other herbs that you like.
  • Sear the Salmon from both sides. First, sear the pink meat side of the salmon and then sear the skin side. If you don’t like the skin, you can remove the skin and then sear both sides. As there are good minerals in skins that’s why I am using salmon with skin.
  • If you are using the frozen Salmon, thaw them first so that it is cooked evenly. If you are cooking frozen salmon directly then it will not cook properly.
