Ingredients for Coffee Muffins

  • All-purpose flour: It serves as a base for these muffins. All-purpose flour is good for muffins, but you can try pastry flour as well.
  • Sugar: Sugar will add sweetness to muffins. You can also use light brown sugar instead of regular sugar.
  • Baking powder: Baking powder helps the cappuccino muffins to rise well creating a soft spongy texture.
  • Cinnamon: To add the cappuccino flavor with a warm and sweet aroma we use ground cinnamon.
  • Salt: Use a pinch of salt to balance the flavors.
  • Egg: The egg helps the muffin batter to bind and prevent the batter from crumbling. For this dish, use an entire egg.
  • Milk:  Milk will create a soft moist texture to our muffins batter yielding the soft muffins. Whole milk or any other milk like low-fat milk can be used.
  • Instant coffee granules: It will add a cappuccino coffee flavor. If you are a coffee addict, then you can increase its amount a bit. You can use Espresso shots instead of coffee granules to make espresso coffee cake muffins.
  • Vanilla extract: It will add a beautiful vanilla flavor that along with cinnamon and coffee will create a cappuccino flavor for muffins.
  • Melted unsalted butter: We are adding salt that’s why I am using the unsalted butter for the batter. Melted butter will make the cappuccino cupcakes a moist, and soft texture. You can use oil like vegetable or canola oil in place of butter to add moisture to muffins.
  • Chocolate chips: Mini semi-sweet chocolate chips will create the best flavor of chocolate in cappuccino muffins. Some chocolate chips are folded in batter while others are used for topping the muffins.

Expert Tips

  • Sift the flour and other dry ingredients of muffins to make the batter smooth and free of lumps.
  • It’s better to not mix the batter too much because it will make your muffins hard.
  • Keep a good eye while baking muffins. If you want to check you can carry out a toothpick test. Insert the toothpick in the center of the muffin and if it turns clean or a little wet it means your muffins are done.

Storage Options

  • The best way to store these cappuccino muffins is to store them at room temperature in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
  • I always avoid refrigerating the muffins or freezing them. I like them fresh or store them for a maximum of 4 days.

FAQ’s

You need to cool your muffins for about 5-10 minutes after they come out of the oven. You can place your muffins on cooling racks for a few minutes. This will prevent the muffins from crumbling and keep the muffins soft, moist, and fluffy.

Muffins become moist due to butter or oil. I am using melted unsalted butter to keep the muffins moist and soft. Wet and dry ingredients are properly measured before use.

The main reason is to set your oven at a high temperature. The high temperature will burn or make a crispy appearance from the outside and the inside will not cook properly. Bake the muffins at 375 F for 18-20 minutes.
