How to make the Chipotle Steak
Step 1. Take a ribeye steak, wash it thoroughly and pat it dry. Mix all the seasonings like cumin powder, black powder, garlic powder, tomato bouillon, and salt.
Step 2. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the steak and coat it well so that all the seasoning adheres to it well. Now add the seasoning and coat the ribeye steak with it. Marinate the seasoned steak for about 15-20 minutes.
Step 3. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the grill pan. Sear the steak on a grill pan for 4-5 minutes on each side. Once the steak is browned on one side then go ahead and flip it to the other side. Flip it to the other side until all the excess oil leaves the steak. I like my steak to be medium cooked but if you like your steak fully done then cook it for a long time until it is fully cooked.
Step 5. Once the steak is done allow it some rest for about 10-15 minutes before cutting into the steak. Cut the steak into cubes or slices. Serve and enjoy your chipotle steak with other side chipotle dishes.
Expert Tips
- The quality of steak matters. Use high-quality ribeye steak that is marbled intramuscular fat red meat.
- Increase the time for marination if you are not in a hurry to 30 minutes. The longer you marinate the steak the better it will absorb flavors.
- Preheat your grill pan for searing the steak. This will help the steak to sear better and quickly.
- Avoid moving the steak too much; rather place the steak in one place and let it cook on one side before flipping it to the other side. Also, sear the sides of beef steak.
- If you want your steak to be fully done, then sear the steak for more time on each side.
- Rest the steak for about 5-10 minutes because it allows the flavors to adjust and make it juicier and tender.
Storage Options
If you want to store leftovers, then place the whole steak or sliced steak in an airtight container and refrigerate the steak for a maximum of 3 days. For long-term storage, freezing is best. Wrap your steak as a whole or slice in aluminum foil, place them in freezer-safe containers, label the date and freeze them for 2 months.
If you want to reheat the steak, rest for some minutes if you want to consume it and then microwave it for 1 minute on both sides or cook it on the grill pan with some oil and water on medium flame. Avoid reheating it on high flame because it will burn the steak from outside and the inside will not reheat properly.
