What you’ll need for Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats
There are some basic ingredients to make these Krispie treats:
- Dark Chocolate: Use dark chocolate in the form of chocolate chips or bars. If you are using a bar, break the bar into little pieces. The small pieces will melt easily in the microwave. Semi-sweet chocolate chips can also be used as a substitute with less sweetness, but it will work the same. If you are out of chocolate chips, you can also use unsweetened COCOA powder. Mix the cocoa powder with melted butter or oil to form a paste-like consistency.
- Peanut Butter: Peanut butter will provide a nutty flavor to the chocolate rice Krispies. Raw Tahini (gluten-free sesame butter) and Almond butter can also be used. Raw tahini is the best gluten-free option.
- Honey: Honey will act as a natural sweetener and add sweetness to the chocolate Rice Krispies. Try maple syrup of an equal amount as a substitute.
- Rice Krispies: Rice Krispies are puffed rice that will add crispness to the treats. Crushed cornflakes are an alternative to Rice Krispies.

Stir, and if needed, return to the microwave for 5 seconds and stir again.
Step 2. Combine chocolate and peanut butter until smooth. Add some honey and then add Rice Krispies and mix thoroughly or until the mixture is coated completely.
Step 3. Line a 9 x12-inch sheet pan with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Transfer the mixture to the pan and flatten to your desired thickness using a spatula. Don’t press too much because it will break the Krispies inside.
