What is Compound Butter?
Softened butter that incorporates different additions of seasonings, herbs, sweeteners, and spices is compound butter. It might sound fancy, but it is simple to create with your favorite seasoning. The principle of making compound butter is to use softened butter at room temperature so the ingredients are mixed easily. Mold the butter into a ball or log shape and cool it till firm. I made compound butter with herbs and roasted garlic, and it is so yummy. Some people don’t mind using parmesan cheese in making the compound butter. I usually remind myself that butter is good for the body, but garlic herb butter is good for the soul.
Ingredients
- 250g salted butter, room temperature
- 1 bulb garlic
- A sprig of rosemary
- A sprig of thyme
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Roasted Garlic Butter Recipe
1.Roast the Garlic Bulb
Trim about a quarter (1/4 inch) of the garlic top and place it on the center of aluminum foil.
Season the garlic bulb with olive oil. Wrap the foil from each side and press it into a ball. Roast at 400F for about 40-45 minutes. Peel or squeeze the brown pulp of roasted garlic.
2.Chop the Herbs
Finely chop your favorite herbs with a knife or chopper. I chopped rosemary, thyme, and parsley.
3.Mix Roasted Garlic and Herbs in Butter
Combine softened butter, roasted garlic pulp, and herbs in a bowl and mix well with a fork or spatula.
4.Enjoy Roasted Garlic Butter
Make a butter bar or fold it in parchment paper (baking paper) and store it in the fridge. Spread the butter on crusty bread and enjoy.
5.Shape the Butter
Shape the garlic butter into a log or into a ball. Place the portion of compound butter onto parchment paper or plastic wrap. Make it 5 inches long and 1 inch thick. Roll it into a log and tightly seal the edges of the wrap by twisting it. Refrigerate overnight until firm. Cut the desired amount of butter slice from the log and make your simple dishes Awesome!
