5-Step Palomino Sauce That You Will Love in Your Favorite Dishes

Palomino sauce is a silky, creamy, tomatoey, and herby sauce served with pasta or spaghetti that will satisfy your Italian craving. This creamy rose-colored pasta sauce is made with tomato sauces cooked in-depth with aromatic herbs, garlic, butter, and cheese much like a Rich and Creamy sauce. This sauce is my all-time favorite pasta sauce!

This sauce comes together quickly and is often served in Italian cuisine. Now you can make it at home and serve it over pasta, ravioli, boursin pasta, or any other toast and enjoy the fresh Italian taste at home. I frequently make this sauce for lazy Sunday dinner. It used to take me much longer to make but this has been my new way for the past few months, and I am so happy with the results!

How to make Orange palomino pasta sauce

STEP 1. Heat the butter over medium-low heat and add the chopped yellow onions and garlic.  Sauté until the onions are soft, about 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 

STEP 2. After two minutes, add the basil leaves and continue cooking. Add the tomato sauce, tomato puree, and water and stir. Put over medium heat and bring to a simmer over medium flame.

STEP 3. Mascarpone cheese should be added and whisked until melted. Stirring often, simmer for an additional ten minutes.

STEP 4. Use an immersion blender to puree the mixture, or add it to a conventional blender, but proceed with care. You can only place a small amount in a traditional blender at a time and should always use caution when blending hot mixtures in your blender!)  Blend until smooth.

STEP 5. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar after tasting.  Serve over your favorite pasta or gnocchi and freshly grated cheese or chopped parsley.

How to use this Red Sauce in Dishes

  • Classic pasta. Toss the sauce with your favorite al dente classic pasta like spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne. Add your favorite cheese topping like I like to garnish with fresh parmesan cheese. 
  • Pizza or lasagna. Spread Tomato sauce on pizza dough before adding your favorite toppings. Spread with a mixture of palomino and pizza sauce to taste the next level. Spread this sauce between the lasagna layers while stuffing. 
  • Grilled chicken breast. Drizzle the creamy sauce over the grilled chicken for rich and creamy chicken bites. 
  • Use it as Dip. Orange tomato sauce is used as a dip with various appetizers like garlic bread or breadsticks.

  • Garnish this orange sauce pasta with some fresh chopped parsley, and torn basil leaves for fresh presentation.

  • Stir constantly to avoid burning the bottom and ensure a smooth texture.
  • The consistency of sauce depends on you. If you prefer the palomino sauce thin then try adding some more water to the sauce and if you like it thick then simmer for longer until your desired consistency is achieved. 
  • Simmer the sauce slowly and gently to attain a deep flavor. Do not simmer the sauce on high flame and allow the flavors and aroma to spread throughout the sauce. 
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the spice. 

Storage Suggestions 

Store this sauce in an airtight container and place it in the fridge for 3-4 days. For a longer period of storage, freeze the sauce in an airtight jar for up to one month
